Why games are so addictive?

Hello guys!!!

Welcome to my newest blog which is "Why games are so addictive?"..

First of all, I know that some people or mostly children now-a-days, must have heard from their parents that "You spend most of the time in front of that little screen!!! Go out and play!" or "In our time, we used to play outward rather than spending time on just a dumb screen."

So why are smartphones changing us? and why are they so addictive? In this blog, you will get answers to this question..

So what is the main purpose of a game?

A game's main purpose is to entertain the gamer or it can be for fun or for education... But kids nowadays think that there is nothing more than just a mobile screen, but this is not true, there is a lot of things in this world outside just a small screen.

So here are some reasons why children (mostly age between 5-11) are most addicted to games

  1. Some parents give smartphones to children, so that they can do their work peacefully .
  2. They build a habit of using a smartphone since an early age, so they became most addicted it.
  3. Children find it amusing and fun, this strengthens the addiction.
There are few researches held to find the main cause..

The companies and developers use some techniques to make it more addictive:-

1. They reward players:- For eg. If you have to catch a fish you have to first give him a treat or if you wanna train your dog you will just repeat the command and if it does it correctly you will encourage it by giving it a treat, That's the same process the developer's do with gamers. Have you ever noticed that when you have completed a level in a game or just got the high score, you just got excited , and have you ever wondered that if you win why there is music, a victory banner and some good graphics? OK? That's what the developers do, Information is like a gold treasure for your brain which it gets from the senses, and Serotonin and Dopamine are released to make the brain more excited when you win, In short words, they are trying to manipulate your brain to be addictive.

2. They make the game never ending

Have you ever played Temple run or that little dinosaur game when you have no internet connection on google chrome? try it (Actually I also like that gameπŸ˜πŸ˜‰πŸ˜…. Just turn off the data or internet of your device and open google chrome and try searching something, you will get a dinosaur { T-Rex}click on it, and then start), these games are never ending games! For eg:- Take Temple run, You want to earn coins and establish a high score, Right? But, Have you ever thought that why you wanted coins, maybe to unlock characters and to unlock or upgrade a new skill, ok? that is what they do, this is the next step of addiction, they add what the player likes and make it more addictive.

3. They can be a means of getting social

Remember when you played games like Free Fire, Pubg, COD, Fortnite, what are you actually doing, you are interacting with other real life players, Humans are sociable and they can't live in a quarantine. Since you don't know what the other player is going to do, it makes the game more excited and unpredictable, This also helps in the addiction, Because addiction is basically caused of pleasure and fun in doing something.

4. They constantly improve games

That is why there is always a Pop-up Menu , saying how do you like the game, and what are the improvements, this makes the user more comfortable and have a good perspective about it, question yourself that, when somebody asked you which game do you like the most? what do you answered? and why does you like that game so much? the points that I have listed are the cause? ask yourself.

These are the four major key-points of making a game so addictive.

So you now know that why games are addictive so much, So is playing games are good or not?

In my opinion it is in our hands that what do we create the meaning of a game? If we take it just for entertainment purpose that is good, ok? There is an old saying that "Too much of anything is not good".

So I hope you have understood this,

                                Good bye until next blog

AND YES!! DON'T FORGET TO MENTION YOUR FAVOURITE GAME IN THE COMMENT SECTION!

                                                Take Care
